Favorite Things of Fall ’16

It’s been awhile.

Everyone told me that New York City would be an insane experience, and even as someone who is well-versed in moving, the speed, pace, and endless number of things to do (shout out to my empty checking account!) caught up with me.

So I apologize. The good news is that I am doing a soft-relaunch of Finding Renaissance over the next few weeks. I already have content coming in from a vast lineup that includes U.S. military veterans, business experts from places like Buzzfeed, up and coming DJs from the EDM circuit, and artists from Los Angeles. It’s going to be one hell of a ride.

In the meantime, I figured I’d get personal and list out my Favorite Things of Fall ’16 with y’all (OK, let’s be real, it’s a shameless plug for my Instagram life).

EDM Music

EDM has played a really big part of my life over the last year. In a few weeks, you’ll get a chance to find out why from one of my best friends and up and coming DJ, Ian Becker.

Food

If you know anything about me, you know that I hate chain restaurants. I’ll go out of my way to find a matcha soft serve place that also serves vegan crunch wraps in my yoga pants.

Alcohol

If you follow me on Snapchat (fierlessj316), you know that I enjoy libations. The theme of Fall ’16: Whiskey, whiskey, whiskey.

Family

I only got to see my family once this Fall, but not a day goes by that I don’t think of my dogs…and every few days go by and I think of my parents (hi mom and dad).

Friends

My Weird NYC Story involves the fact that two people I hadn’t talked to since high school have become two of my best friends in the city. On top of that, I’ve had plenty of people come through NYC on trips and I’ve been able to reconnect with people from all around the world.

Being Basic

I’m pretty tired of the narrative that being basic at heart is a bad thing. So what if I enjoy my Triple Grande No Whip Extra Foam Almond Milk Pumpkin Spice Latte while carrying around my yoga mat and wearing a permanent flower crown. It’s still a mystery that I’m single.

City Life

I’ve never walked more in my life (6+ miles a day), I love the subway (except when it’s late), and everything is open until 4am or later. In the words of the prophet, Jay Z: The city never sleeps, better slip you an Ambien.
